What do you think about interracial relationships?

Be honest! Specifically hispanic and white. I am not asking this question to offend anyone, I am in one. It just seems like people care so much about something that is so insignificant. I just want to know other peoples thought and opinions on the subject. What do you think about interracial relationships?
Hispanic and White mixed is a very normal thing to see where I live (Los Angeles). I am in an interracial marriage myself, but not your typical race mix you would imagine. If you love the person go for it!What do you think about interracial relationships?
I'm open to it. I (being white) am attracted to darker men. Polynesians, a few Hispanics, Italians, Bollywood actors... I've been attracted to Black celebrities but haven't really know that many in real life to develop a relationship with. I had an Asian man tell me that he couldn't decide if he was attracted to me since I was the wrong race. I thought that was rude. So I think it's acceptable if people are willing to work through the differences, mostly comeing from cultural backgrounds, just like any realationship.
I usually find it refreshing to see, especially if it's out of the norm, like a black woman with a white man. Though, that is becoming more common it seems.
Well,

Spanish people and white people are seen as the same in the UK so there isn't any mix of race, they are the same.
Mix it all up.

What do you think of interracial relationships?

I really don't approve of interracial marriage. I don't want men of other races taking our women. White women are more beautiful and attractive than other women!

We treat our women better, we have strong family values, we don't cheat, and we take care of our children better.

What do you think of interracial relationships? Should everyone stick to their own? What do you think of interracial relationships?
Doesn't bother me, but I like to stick to my own kind............What do you think of interracial relationships?
I think that people of the same race may have more in common, and could have the same lifestyle. But in the end I would say to each there own. It takes two people to be in a relationship, so there's no such thing as other people ';taking out women'; the women have minds of their own and make the choices they choose. My parents are of the same race and my cousin married a Japanese women. My dad (a white male) treated my mom, myself and my sister like dirt, his ';family values'; were ignoring us and never looking up from his computer. He never took care of us, my mother raised me and my sister, ( and let me tell you we had more money than we could do with, so this wasn't situational) and did I mention he has 8 girlfriends at the moment, and my parents are not yet divorced. My cousin I mentioned earlier are very different and they are a great example of an interracial couple, because of their differences. Their two children under the age of three both are fluent in both english and Japanese. I doubt if he had married a white women, would our family be as joyful.
I'm sure any white woman can tell you there are plenty moral-lacking cheating white men out there.

I think people should be able to date anyone they want, the same way you have the freedom to state your racist opinion.

You have the right to be racist.

And I as a hispanic person with morals respect your blatant opinion.

By the way, people of mixed race are some of the most stunningly beautiful people in this world.
Uhm......I strongly approve.

I don't see anything that's wrong with interracial marriage. I think mixed people are really good looking, actually.

';I don't want men of other races taking our women. ';

Define ';our women';. Women of the United States? White women are part of the US along with other races. Because NEWSFLASH! the US is really diverse, bud.

Maybe you're just racist?
dear me.

Lord help these racist people.

Just because their skin is a certain color does NOT mean anything.

White guys cheat too, and there are many beautiful asian, black, european girls so just chill dude.

There are many successful men who are not white and they have great families so stop being racist and stereotypical.
I could careless.

My aunt is white and my uncle is black. Love is love. It doesn't matter what the colour of skin is. If someone wants to be in a relationship with a person of another race, it shouldn't have to matter. If everyone stuck to their own, people would be the same. That'd be boring. Interracial relationships are beautiful.

';We treat our women better, we have strong family values, we don't cheat, and we take care of our children better.';

FYI, any man can do that. Not just white men.
Well, I've got a problem then, coming from two different ethnic groups so I'm doomed. None of us have pure bloodlines. I think it's OK. I do realize that there might be some social problems but I don't consider it morally wrong to marry out of your race. I belive there are beautiful men and women of all races.
I don't see anything wrong with it. My dad is mixed with Black and White, and my mom is Puerto Rican.

Skin color is just a color. It doesn't define who a person is... I actually find it amazing that two people of different backgrounds can come together and share a beautiful thing such as love...
I honestly think that you're wrong. But, it's a whole different story when there's a couple of homosexuals. THAT is wrong right there.

I think that saying a white man is the only man who can provide and make a good father/husband is completely ignorant.

Would I marry a black man or a yellow man or a tan man? no. A white man, yes. I am by no means racist though.
u know u are being racial right now to even say such a thing, BTW, i was conceived in an interracial relationship, and i am proud to be mixed.U need to just stop with all that man, and accept the different shades of beauty that we have in this world!
WOW!

I think Halle Berry and Gisele Bundchen are VERY beautiful women.

I am very sorry for you.

You are obviously a very sheltered person with absoutly no real life experiences.

You really should stop watching so much tv and start living a real life.

ps:

Please dont reproduce.
I don't see anything wrong with an interracial relationship, as long as the couple actually like/love eachother why should I care?
i love the idea, are you racist by any chance, cos if you are white i wouldn't marry you cos of your attitude to other races
What's wrong buddy? Did your white g/f want a taste of some chocolate? Man take it in stride. Save that Aryan Nation stuff for another site.
I think your an idiot with very racists beliefs. Let people love who they want and mind your own business. Its guys like you that have white woman going to other races. Realize its 2009 and stop being so closed minded.
I dated a white guy before. I'm black.

I see nothing wrong with it, i think mixed children are beautiful.

And your comments are very racist, white men are just like any other race of men.
racist pig much?
well that's your opinion...i've never heard anyone else saying white women are more attractive than the other races but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and i think persons should b free to marry any race as long as they're in love
i could care less about people getting with others with different skin colors. more power to you if that's what you want. doesn't bother me one bit.
Love have no color. It I fall in love with a white guy and he loves me also we will over look color.
ok? too much opinion and stereotype for me! but a relationship should never be base on that... last time i check when too people belong together who gives a rat behind
WTF....Stealing ';our'; women...white women don't belong to YOU bud and you act as if you will date more than one woman!
hey, a woman is a woman. I don't care.
I could care less about it.
doesn't bother me whatever floats your boat
I believe in live and let live.Whatever floats your boat
to each his or her own. quit worrying about it.
it's 2009, and i think you need to sit down somewhere and shut up.
you're a foolish troll
its no big deal. stupid racists
What a racist pig.

What do you think of intercultural relationships?

Would you marry someone who spoke a different language than you, had different beliefs, ate different foods, had a different color skin, etc?

Is love really blind? What do you think of intercultural relationships?
Im an american (pr decent) %26amp; she is very carribean

she speaks spanish %26amp; french I spoke.. english.. only

She was in graduate school, i had never been to college.

She grew up in a big family with both parents, went to private school, I've had a broken, drama-filled family %26amp; have been on my own since 17

i had no belief, she is a devote catholic

She's been traveling since she was a child. I've never been outside the US

she eats and cooks every meal from every country you can fathom.

Im a chicken %26amp; mash potatoes kind of guy.

Im white complexioned, shes black complexioned.

I love my princess beyond belief.

Everything that is different about us, is what attracts us to eachother.

We have grown together. Years ago, i would have never seen my self finishing college, in a better career, eating sushi %26amp; pad ki mow, traveling, learning a new language, becoming catholic, having such a strong sense in my faith, and having a solid family to call my own.

So i encourage intercultural relationships and people with differences. It leads to greater experiences. It did for me.What do you think of intercultural relationships?
I might be hard to keep the peace in the house if the two of you have different beliefs and speak a different language. You have to be aware of the issues that you will have going into the marriage. You either have to help her speak your language or learn to speak hers. Learn to love the foods she eats and be okay with the different beliefs the both of you will have. What if you have kids, what belief will they have to follow. The skin color is no big issue. But you have to think long and hard about the other things.
I've always been open with intercultural relationships. Personally, I'm white but I'm attracted to black men. I wouldn't mind them speaking a different language as long as we were still able to communicate well. I would respect their beliefs as well (whether they were the same or different as mine.) And as for foods, I don't like seafood at all, I'm allergic to a lot of it, but if that's what he loves, I wouldn't mind it at all.

So for me yes, love is blind.
I would not be concerned about language, appearance or religion. However, I would not even date a man whose culture demeans women. It has been my experience that these cultural beliefs grow even stronger after having children. I could not tolerate it. Additionally I would not marry a man if I had to relinquish my rights to equality to visit his homeland (Cover my face and body, for instance). I am too American to agree to such derogatory treatment. So, for me love is blind as long as it does not involve giving up my equality.
since i have always dated men of different religions, and am marrying one, yeah. sometimes there are misunderstanding, but we clear it up pretty quick. as for language... well, it would have to be a language i understood, but yeah. foods, i dont care, as long as i don have to participate. skin color is odd, since i have a very obvious preference for blond pale blue eyed men, but i dont have a philosophical problem with it. just never seemed to work out that way. the key to being with someone of another culture is that you allow them to have theirs, and they let you have yours.
Having different beliefs really becomes a problem when it comes to raising your children. Being tolerant of others' religion is one thing, but letting them fill the heads of your children with that nonsense is another matter, and they feel the same way from their perspective.

For example, I'm very not religious, while my wife believes in God, but doesn't go to church or pray or otherwise 'practice religion'. At some point, our son and daughter are going to ask about God. Even as I'm typing this out, I'm realizing that the answer will be that mom believes and dad doesn't, and it's up to them to find out for themselves.
I understand some people are attracted to people who are different from them, and think it's OK as long as they are mature enough to understand they WILL have numerous differences...and respect them.

I have always admired women who leave their family, friends, job and country to marry a man from another country or culture. I think they really must be in love in order to do such a sacrifice! (Unfortunately, not all of them end up being as happy as they thought they would be.)

Love is blind...and sometimes naive. People who expect to live happily ever after in relationships where important issues - like religious beliefs, upbringing and education, values and child rearing- are too different tend to not last. Many times the inlaws and the country itself may be too much of a change for them to adjust, and they end up really stressed out.

Personally, I go by what my grandma used to say...';Each sheep with its equal.'; I consider myself a strong, educated and independant woman...so I would never consider marrying a man who thought I was inferior or less of a human being just because I was born a woman.
I did this. Shortly after I married my husband he was baptized so that we would share the same religion. I think in falling in love there a mixture of love and an element of logic, as far as predicting things will work long term. We both have a good work ethic and are family oriented. We both like sci fi movies, and hate tomatoes. Honestly cultural norms take more time to adapt to than the language barrier. One of the things I like is that it keeps things spicy. Even though I am a pretty mainstream American, to him, I am exotic, and to him, when I speak his language, I have a 'cute' accent.
I'm Puerotrican and my wife is from Kentucky. She loves all foods even Mexican food; I hate Mexican food.

She is Baptist and I'm Catholic.

We don't do illegal drugs, but we both smoke and drink.

She is very liberal and I'm conservative.

She didn't vote, but I did.

She hates the color Red and I love the color Blue.

She picks out the living room furniture I just cover the bill.

She goes grocery shopping and I stay at home.

She is the Boss all I do is pay the bills.

Cultral relationship? We have enough indifference than worrying about that.
I love that people are free to marry whomsoever they choose.. yes, love is definitely blind.

As for me, I have never been attracted to anyone w/ a different skin color, different language or different religious beliefs..
I think these marriages CAN end up fine, as long as both people take the time to make sure they completely understand the issues that will crop up and where they might have to compromise. This is especially important when each person has strong religious beliefs but not the same religion.
Play Nice, I recognize beauty and personality and goodness wherever I find it, and I've had a lot of interracial dates. One problem though is language. That kinda gets down pretty quickly to the languages all races understand, if you know what I mean. Jack C.
Yes, no, yes, yes.

No to different beliefs, because what would you have in common then? Yes to all the others. A person's race doesn't matter to me. I love other languages and if it was one I could learn then heck yes, bring it on!. :-)
It takes more adjustment than a the same culture marriage, but yes I would be willing marry someone from a different culture as long as his beliefs are the as mine.
I don't have problems with skin color. I don't think I could marry someone who don't speak English or had different beliefs, in short anyone who is not American.
i will not marry someone if they have a different belief then i do, the bible says there will be peace in the house if both share the same faith.
I would...

If u love them, then you love them.

None of that should matter.

If anything i enjoy it cuz you could learn a diff

Language and about theit culture
maybe to you guys, but life will be made very difficult to all those around you.

Maybe his family friends etc would never accept you.
most certainly,,,,,
if I loved her, sure.
I think as long as it's not Latin Americans and whites trying to mix it's ok. Usually Latinos have an ulterior motive when it comes to being with someone white. I'm African-American and am attracted to caucasian men.

What is your opinion on the relationships in Birdsong?

I'm doing an analysis on the novel Birdsong, and I need an outside opinion. Of you who have read the book, what do you make of the character Colonel Gray, and his relationship with Stephen?

I've been staring at it for hours, and now I really need some outside help! Cheers. What is your opinion on the relationships in Birdsong?

How can you be open to relationships and marriages when there is so much negativity surrounding it?

I have a fear of disappointment, rejection and heartbreak so I avoid being with anyone. I wouldn't mind marriage or even a relationship but hearing so much about it's better to be single, and marriages fail keeps me so negative minded. How do you open to love when you see and hear so much negativity plus your only fears/How can you be open to relationships and marriages when there is so much negativity surrounding it?
It's really hard! I am negative about the same thing, parents divorced, most people I know divorced - and these are all lovely, educated, well off people so stastically they are in the low risk group! I was paranoid of rejection so I avoided relationships (wasn't hard) for longer than most people do. Then I eventually agreed to go out with a friend who had loved me secretly for years. I kept trying not to fall for him but I did, I was with him for over 2 years when he suddenly ended it. I've been through a lot of things but this is probably the worst pain ever. Not that I expected it to go for ever, but it could have ended a LOT better both timing-wise and how it happened. So I don't know what to tell you other than yeah relationships do suck and end horribly. I'm going to try not to let it happen again! It is a great feeling being in love but I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it.How can you be open to relationships and marriages when there is so much negativity surrounding it?
Marriages also succeed. They fail when the couples are unwilling to forgive each other. Don't do the thing that ruins relationships fast which is to blame every guy you date for the mistakes the one before him made. Treat each person with a clean slate unless and until they actually do something to sully it. Don't expect people to be perfect. There is no such thing. Be patient. Love is something that grows it isn't something that happens instantly. Don't mistake infatuation for love either.

Marriages do work.
I wouldn't say the single life is ';better';. However, I would say the single life is much **easier**. Marriage can be a very fulfilling relationship but I honestly believe it is not for everyone!!! When I got married at 26 I was not ready. I probably should have waited 10 years longer.

You should never get married because of religious beliefs. Marriage is a very serious commitment that far too many people do not take seriously.

You should not have a fear of disappointment, rejection, and heartbreak. Life is meant to be lived and love is a special thing worth living for even if it means you are heartbroken a few times along the way.
There are good stories too you know. And God does not want you to be fearful. So you open yourself up to the person that you think you can trust and believe. It doesn't happen overnight mind you. Take your time to get to know someone. At some point in time you have to trust somebody. And put it all in God's Hands. Thinking positive will also help. Good Luck and May God Bless you.
Because you shouldn't deprive yourself from love just because relationships around you are failing! My fiance and I have been together for almost 6 years and we don't get tired of each other. You want to know the secret? Don't sweat the small stuff!! Also you have to want to make it work!! And Opposites DON'T attract (maybe at first but it won't last). When you find that special someone, let your gaurd down. You'll be glad you did.
I don't put any emphasis on other people's thoughts, opinions and negativity. I married a wonderful man and we have better things to do rather than listen to bullshit like that.
just be open to love and everything else will fall in place

  • What do you think about interacial relationships?

Im white and my boyfriend is black. Half of my family doesn't care but the other is not ok with it at all. I was wondering what others opinions are on this. What do you think about interacial relationships?
I think that is absolutely fine. Race should not be an issue. My sister who is black is dating a white guy and my brother, also black has a white girlfriend.

And if my parents told me I couldn't date someone because of their race, I would completely disregard what they said and would continue dating the person. What do you think about interacial relationships?
Well on my profile i state that i am a very interracial person. lol

but for me I'm white and Ive never dated someone of my same race, my family eventually got use to it, i usually only date African American boys, and some of my family still has problems but i usually just tell them to get over it.

I mean if they cant accept who I'm with and who i am, then its none of their Business what i do anyways.

just remember love See's no color
I think you should be with whoever makes you happy, man, woman, black, white, whatever as long as it's legal and safe. I'm white and my girlfriend is asian, I know it's not as taboo as a white/black relationship, but it is very narrow minded to not accept somebody just because of the color they are.
    its perfectly fine,

i have dated many black guys...no my parents werent perfectly ok with it but once they met him %26amp; saw all the reasons i loved him they learned that he was no different from a white guy. There really is no difference except skin color. tlak to your parents i am sure if they get to know him they will learn why oyu love him.
I am mexican, Indian, %26amp; White. I would not date any race but a black person and thats because thats whom i am attracted to. My whole family hates it, They come off as very rascist but i do not care. It should not matter what anyone else thinks if you are happy with him then ignor everyone. its hard but i have been doing it for years.
I have a white friend who dates a black guy. She's been happily in love with him for 2 years now. The thing is everyone talks about her. I don't think I'd want some one to talk about me like that so it's deffinitely not something I would do...
    what??

Why is this even a question

    LOVE IS LOVE

I dont care if your white, black, asian, hispanic or whatever other label you feel the need to slap onto people....you are all HUMANS...you are all ONE!!

Anyone who is not ok with that is a compelete jackas

    :)
Idc. Love who you want, color doesn't come with rules telling you who you should love.
I think it's fine (I'm in my 40s) as long as you're prepared to deal with people who don't approve of inter-racial relationships.
i wouldnt.. because at my school all the black guys think the white girls are slutty n try gettin with themm..

but i think its nice. i have no problems with it.
My boyfriend is black as well, My family LOVES him. Love has no color, you shouldn't care what anyone thinks about your relationship anyway. As long as your happy does it matter? :)
Seeing as I am the result of an interracial marriage, I definitely don't have a problem with them.
I don't care do whatever makes you happy. race is just the color of your skin not who you are on the inside.
I think of them as any other relationship. There is beauty in everybody.
    Fabulous!!!

In my opinion, it is the ultimate form of racial equality.
Love is love. Colour doesn't matter. :]
I personaly would not do it, but It's fine.

How important is intellect level in relationships?

I was thinking about it today; Two people can get along great but what if one of them is much more intellectual and brainier than the other? Would this affect their relationship in the long run?How important is intellect level in relationships?
Well I consider myself an intellectual person and I can tell you that a relationship can work with someone ';intellectually challenged';... in the short run.

I had a girlfriend who was beautiful but shall we say.. not the brightest.

We were together for 4 months and we had fun all along, but while she pretty much partied all her free time, she didn't care too much about the things I did. We never could have a good conversation about important matters in life because her mentality was very limited.

I can say that while I put a great emphasis on the matters that rouse my brain, she concentrated on the materialistic things.

We were good together in the short run but she wasn't the woman I imagined my life with. How important is intellect level in relationships?
This is probably going to depend on the person. In the long run I would bet that most relationships with large intellectual gaps aren't going to last a particularly long time.

Nonetheless they can work for some periods. Personally, I had a 15-mo relationship that only lasted that long because of the sex. Intellectually she was a dope. Currently I'm on tail end of a relationship of 2.5yrs. This girl is much smarter, but doesn't have any true intellectual curiosity and I've gotten sick of talking about movie stars and Trader Joes.

Intellectual interests and compatibility help to fill that void that we all hit once we seem to have exhausted all our personal stories and histories. Obviously not necessary in a relationship that doesn't involve much talking, but important to the rest of us.
um it shouldn't unless your stuck up about yourself.. if you guys get along great, thats a really great key to a relationship. if he has a decent vocabulary and know how to make you happy, i dont see why someone has to be on the others intellectual level to be compatible.
